Unit 35 P2

BTEC Level 2
Unit 35
P2

Vector- Vector graphics are created in graphics packages and consist of shapes called objects.
It is possible to edit each object separately, for example, change the shape, colour, size and position. Also vectors are scalable(can be re-sized without losing quality)

Bitmap- A bitmap is the second main type of graphic is a bitmap. A bitmap graphic is composed of many tiny pixels which are often different colours.

A local band would like a logo designed for their website this needs to be combined with their band photo.
Vector/Adobe Illustrator- The vector makes a smooth image and Illustrator allows for the use of text and images. The logo will need smooth lines and a vector file type will provide that  better than a bitmap. To save this as an internet graphic you need to change it to a JPEG or GIF file

A builder wants some eye catching text for the side of his van to improve business opportunities.
Vector/Adobe Illustrator - The vector creates a smooth image even when it is made larger. There is also a lot of colours and text to make it eye catching. It is best used for text, in comparison to bitmap so would be the best file type. Adobe Illustrator has a wide range of fonts which would create an attractive text for the side of the van.

The nursery on your estate would like a flyer designed to promote the facility.
Bitmap and Vector/Microsoft publisher- you will want images and text so you need bitmap and vector. it obviously needs text so you need a vector and you want some attractive images so you can use a bitmap. publisher is good because it supports both file types.
